The ironmen welcome the “Wizards” of Aberavon to the wern complex on Saturday for the Indigo premiership league fixture. Aberavon arrives with a 100% record winning 3 from 3 which sees them 1 point behind current leaders Cardiff RFC. Wins have come an away win over Bridgend RFC (26-27) and two homes wins over Swansea(24-14) and last Saturday over Newport (16-12). Last season the Wizards cast a spell in the league over the ironmen completing a double-winning at the wern(14-22) and at the Talbot Athletic ground(16-7). Merthyr’s only success was a WRU Cup 1st round victory at Aberavon 10-15, where Merthyr had captain Craig Locke red carded and number 8 Phil Rees yellow-carded ending the game with 13 men.
