The #Athletic chalked up their first win of the season in a keenly contested and enjoyable watch at Parc de Pugh, Brecon.
The #Athletic weathered some early pressure before going on to dominate the first 40′ scoring twenty unanswered points with tries from Jon Watkins, Will Thomas and Sam Prosser. Adam Hoskins adding five points through the boot, a penalty and one of the three conversions.
In the second half, a youthful Brecon with plenty of fresh leg options on the bench, hit back with three unanswered tries of their own. The third the pick, scored and converted by their impressive No 10. This third score seen Brecon take the lead for the first time, ahead by a single point 21-20, with less than ten minutes left on the clock.
The #Athletic dug deep, making their way up field and winning a penalty wide out. Hoskins’ attempt sailed wide of the upright and with time sliping away all seemed lost. With the clock red, the #Athletic again worked their way back up field, eventually setting up a lineout on the Brecon twenty-two. The final passage of play seen the #Athletic testing the Brecon defence and winning a penalty straight in front which was duly converted. Well done boys
