Message from our Chairman 17th May 2026

As we bring the curtain down on another memorable campaign, it is only right that we pause to reflect on what has been a truly fantastic season for Merthyr RFC. To lift the Admiral Premiership once again, backing up last year’s success, is an achievement that speaks volumes about the character, commitment and resilience of everyone connected with our squad and this club.

On behalf of the Executive, I want to place on record our sincere thanks to our Patron, Sir Stanley, whose unwavering support continues to underpin so much of what we do. To our players, coaches, medical and backroom staff, your effort, professionalism and pride in the jersey have been outstanding. To our sponsors, volunteers and loyal supporters, thank you for everything you give, week after week, to make this club what it is.

We also extend our appreciation to our league competitors. Beddau and Pontypridd who pushed us all the way throughout the season, ensuring standards remained high from first whistle to last. And we congratulate Neath RFC on their fully deserved WRU National Cup victory in early April. Together, we are collectively responsible for showcasing the very best of Welsh Community Rugby, and this season has certainly achieved that. Thank you for the competition and your hospitality.

Looking ahead, we warmly welcome Bedwas and Bonymaen to the Premiership fold in September. We wish them well as they join what promises to be another fiercely competitive and exciting campaign.

For now, I hope everyone enjoys a well‑earned and relaxing summer break. Thank you once again for your incredible support, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our Club Presentation evening on Friday 29th May.
