The #Ironmen with seven debutants in the starting line-up, make a winning start at the Brewery Field, as we prepare for the long awaited new season.
The first half seen the #Ironmen score four tries to the #Ravens one, building a strong half time lead of 24-07. Tries came from Paddy Mcbride, Kelvin Williams, Sam Jones and Gareth Thompson. Thompson converted two from four.
A much changed #Ironmen15 took the field for the second half and struggled to get up to speed / compete with a #Ravens side eager to get back on terms. The #Ravens scored three unanswered tries of their own to tie the scores at 24-24 with 10′ to play.
With all things pointing towards a #Ravens win, with 78′ on the clock, the #Ironmen won a penalty on the 10m line which Thompson converted. Some excellent game management in the final seconds of the game helped secure the ‘w’.
Highlight. A powerful debut by Aberdare RFC product, Dafydd Stonelake. #TakeABow.
Lowlight. An injury to young Teri Gee in the 65′. Fingers crossed for it not being a significant issue, both for Teri, who’s had some terrible injury luck in recent years, but also for the #Ironmen, knowing what Teri offers to our backline.
