After two narrow defeats Merthyr welcome local rivals Pontypridd RFC to the wern complex on Saturday for an early kick off (1:00pm) due to the England v Wales six nations international staged later at 4:45pm. Results this season have been even with the ironmen knocking Pontypridd out of The WRU cup back in September 39-19, but later in the season, Ponty avenged that defeat as they ran out winners at Sardis road, 31-7. Both sides are jointed 5th in the indigo league table on 43 points and both sides were defeated last Saturday with Pontypridd losing at home (12-17) to the Black and Amber’s of Newport and the ironmen going down 17-14 at LLandovery. So this game will be important to both sides as they try and achieve the highest spot in the league possible.
