WRU suspended all Rugby until 30th March

A ban has been placed on all community rugby activity in Wales until March 30, including training and matches.

The threat of the coronavirus has seen wall-to-wall postponements in professional sport and that is now working it’s way down to the amateur game.

As of 6pm tonight, community clubs across Wales are being instructed by the Welsh Rugby Union to put training sessions and matches on ice.

This ban will be in place until the end of the month in a bid to avoid putting players and staff at risk of contracting the virus.

A statement from the WRU read: “The WRU, having considered expert medical advice has taken the precautionary measure of suspending all forms of rugby, including training and rugby-related courses, from 6pm on Saturday 14 March up to and including Monday 30 March 2020.

“The WRU has taken this decision in the interests of players, supporters, volunteers, referees, stakeholders and Welsh communities in general.
